Not to leave out the full spectrum of looks worn by our subject, we see here a collection of images
showing long hair styles worn by Charlize Theron over the years. By comparing these images and the styles therein, we can see certain
strengths and weaknesses in certain styling elements as they relate to her specific needs. For instance, the first three images show
styles that are predominantly straight. Each of the three is layered, but the first style is decidedly less-flattering than the
others. This is primarily the fault of the center parting and flared effect of the hairs’ ends as they turn outward.
All you have to do is look to the second image to see how simply shifting the parting and directing
the curve of the hair inward can make a dramatic difference in the look. The change is significant even without the added benefit of
the better lighting in the second image. The third image is also an improvement and equally as flattering as the second style of the
group, but it contains more wave in the ends of the hair.
Our final photo of the day shows a long hair style that embraces the curl of the hair. It also
features the side parting and angled fringe that has worked so well in other styles we’ve examined, and the layered cut balances the
volume of the curls beautifully. With one side pulled back, creating an asymmetrical silhouette, the style further enhances the
strengths among the facial features – strong cheekbones, bright eyes and full lips – while minimizing the weaker ones.
