February 2005
This photo shows Jessica’s new haircut styled to be smooth and straight. With a slightly muddled
parting and fringe styled across the forehead and the smooth, almost-straight lines the look is at once soft, but stylish.
Notice how the hair’s straight styling and direction across the face and close in on the sides
closes in the features, making the eyes and mouth appear larger and the jaw line and chin appear much stronger.
On the whole, I find myself less pleased with this style than any of the previous ones. The cut
is executed with precision and the style is attractive, but I feel the strength of Jessica’s mouth, jaw and chin need at least a
modicum of soft waves and curves to balance the effect.
July 2006
Once again we see Jessica with her signature long-haired look. It is seventeen months since the
previous photos and her shoulder-level bob, which is enough time to have grown out the length of her hair on her own. However, it is
no great secret (particularly given the line of extensions and hairpieces that Jessica has endorsed – not to mention the confessions
of Jessica’s personal hair stylist) that Jessica is a fan of hair extensions and hairpieces. Because of this, Jessica’s long wavy
hair could easily be added in and blended to create length and fullness, rather than being grown out.
The styling for this look is almost exactly the same as that in the first photo, except that the
hair shown here is slightly curlier, and is tucked behind the opposite ear.
September 2006
Two months after Jessica was sporting her long locks we see her once again in a neat, razor-cut
bob. The off-center parting and smooth flat-iron styling give a very subtle bend to the hair and create a soft-edged frame for the
features.
It is a more mature look, and obviously intended to encourage people to take her more seriously
as a professional.
May 2007
Another eight months finds us with a Jessica sporting long hair once more. This time, however,
there has NOT been sufficient time to grow length enough to allow us to think this is Jessica’s natural hair. No, this is an
obvious style featuring extensions and is intended to give the long, luxurious look once more without the long wait while the hair
grows back.
The style of this look has once again the problems associated with some of the earlier styles
we’ve looked at. The center parting and the straight styling make the face look longer than it truly is, and emphasizes the strong
lines of the jaw and chin and the prominence of the mouth.
October 2007
It’s now another five months later and still not quite enough time has passed to account for
the length of hair shown, so we are obviously still maintaining an extensions hair style. The style shown here is a combination
style featuring some differing style elements. We have a deep fringe area, with an off-center angled parting. The fringe is
razor-cut and textured to softly frame the face. The remainder of the hair from a point just in front of the ears back is styled
for fullness and loosely gathered into a ponytail at the nape area. The ponytail is secured and the holder is hidden using a lock
of Jessica’s hair wrapped around the holder and tucked to conceal the ends.
There are also two locks of hair from the sides – just to the foreground of the area that is
pulled back which area used as accents for the style and are brought gently to meet in the back of the head, entwined with one
another and the ends hidden in the gathered hair.
The overall effect is a good one, and has the advantage of providing sufficient design details
to distract the viewer from searching for evidence of extensions. The style is flattering, with the soft lines of the larger fringe
area providing a good frame for the facial features and allowing the strength of the jaw, chin and mouth to provide the “boundary”
for the face without overburdening the look.
