Kristen Bell – Celebrity Hairstyles Evolution
Kristen Bell is perhaps best known for her role as the title character in the TV series,
“Veronica Mars”, Kristen Bell as had countless television and movie roles in her short career. She is currently to be seen in the
NBC hit series “Heroes” as the powered up Elle Bishop, and in the voice role for the series “Gossip Girl” as Gossip Girl.
Kristen is a lovely young lady with naturally-silky blonde hair and fair skin with a creamy
complexion. She has described herself as not being a risk taker when it comes to her appearance, avoiding bold or daring outfits in
favor of more “classy” modes of dress. This is apparent in her look, which always falls to the more conservative side of the scale.
Her hair has transitioned a bit over the years, but always keeps within classic lines, so let’s have a look at the styles that
she’s chosen:
October 30, 2004
This photo shows a very young-looking Kristen Bell in a very casual look. This was her first
season of “Veronica Mars” and although the actress herself is 24 years old, she plays the role of a seventeen-year-old. This
accounts partially for the slightly juvenile elements of her styling. Her soft blonde hair is parted in an off-center parting and
the top section is pulled back to the crown and secured there. The hair is blunt cut and styled to maintain a soft, natural-looking
wave pattern, which is likely the result of the hair’s natural texture.
Kristen’s hairstyle here works for her since she has a mostly-oval face, but with sharper angles
and features. She has a very strong, prominent nose, and a large mouth, but the waviness and asymmetrical styling of the hair help
to create balance by preventing any specific area from being too much the focus of attention.

In these photos, we see Kristen, a few months later, with a significantly more “grown-up” look.
The hair still features a blunt cut, but is styled with deliberate curl. The hair is styled with a side parting and side-swept bangs
and the curl helps to emphasize the shine of the hair, while the motion and volume of the curl help to balance the features.
The style also helps to soften what would otherwise be a more severe look in clothing. The
conservative combination of turtleneck blouse and tailored pinstripe jacket could be a very serious look, but for the soft, casual
effect of the hairstyle.

We bounce ahead 20 months to see that Ms. Bell has decided to let her hair grow. The hair is
cut in a long style with some layering, particularly to the front of the head, including a minimal fringe area. The hair is styled
in order to provide volume and softness and creates a very romantic look. The style is by far the most “daring” look she’s had to
date.
Given the texture of Ms. Bell’s hair, it is possible (and even probably that part of the length
seen here comes as a result of extensions. If so, the service was very well-executed as the matching is very natural-looking –
sufficiently so that am not 100% certain that extensions are involved. However, the results are that the hairstyle is flattering
and helps to balance the problem features Ms. Bell might otherwise find to be a detriment.

Kristen is shown a week later in this photo with her long locks styled smooth. The cut is
clearly as stated above – long and with some layering in the front and a shorter curved fringe. While the style is well executed,
I don’t feel it is one of Kristen’s better choices.
The strong vertical lines emphasize the length of her nose and sharpen the appearance of her
jaw and chin, while seeming to crowd her mouth. It is a sleeker, more sophisticated look, for certain, but is certainly not as
attractive a look for Ms. Bell as her previous, loose & curly style.
